Mop-up process commences after fire at Nestlé Potchefstroom Factory

A clean-up process has commenced at NestléSouth Africa’s CREMORA manufacturing factory in Potchefstroom, North West, where a fire broke out yesterday afternoon. The fire started in the electricalcontrol room.

There were no injuries sustained andall employees were evacuated and accounted for.

“We have our people on site assessingthe situation and we will know the extent of the damage to the factory by next week. In the meantime, operations at factory have been temporarily suspended, but we are doing everything in our power to ensure that the situation isnormalised as soon as possible,” said Motshidisi Mokwena, Spokesperson for NestléSouth Africa.

A business continuity plan iscurrently underway and the company has made contingencies to ensure supply ofthe product is not disrupted during the temporary closure. Mokwena added thatthe company has multiple factories that manufacture CREMORA.

Nestlé South Africa would like to reiterate that there have been no injuries as a result of this incident.
